"It's Worth It!"

The days are long but the weeks are short!  We track a lot! And knock on a lot of doors! And it is soooooo HOT!  It is bipolar here!  It'll just start randomly raining...even pouring!

I continue to see a lot of miracles here!

"It's not easy being a missionary, but it is worth it!"

About Jimmy:Either he was prepared to hear the gospel or I knew him in the pre- existence...we taught him about the restoration and he really liked it...we are starting to read the B.O.M. with him tomorrow.  We fed the homeless!

It's hard, not finding anyone interested in the gospel, but when you find those who are prepared to hear it, even if it is just one person, it is all worth it!
I challenged 2 investigators to baptism...they have set a date!

So...Random funny things people do in Georgia:
Men never wear shirts, and hardly any pants!  Women run with bats! There are no gates or fences in people's yards!  So our backyard of our apartment is shared by all of us!  Haha!

I love this ward and area!
You don't need to worry about me, I am in great hands and they love us a ton!

From the Field!

I can't even express in words how great today has been!
Receiving an email or two from Sister Berryman and photos sure has made my week!  Here is a little bit of her email:

The first four 1/2 days I was very home sick and feeling anxiety... I didn't realize how much I loved my family...I am a lot better now after I spent those days crying, it is really hard to adjust to the mission life. My comp. Sister Diehl (deal) is so patient and so amazing though! and I am so glad I get to work with her. It is her last transfer though which makes me sad because idk what imma dwith out her...she's been here ever since November so she knows everyone and the whole area. We have a car so we don't have to ride bikes. There are four other elders in our ward and four sisters, including us :) I am in a small town-country area called Griffin we are in the Griffin ward... and it takes 25min to get to church. The ward is awesome and they are so caring to us and so helpful. We have knocked on a few doors we have 7 investigators from just this week. We have Michael who is super close!!! I met him the first day I got here, we had a lesson with him and I just shared my testimony.  The spirit was soo strong and I totally see him getting baptized but he is really into his church, and is very committed :/ which is hard...his wife and him came to linger longer after church with a dinner and she loved it...he enjoyed it as well and he is in Mosiah in the B.O.M.  Yesterday another investigator, Kenny came with his wife to church who is a recent convert, Kenny brought his niece with her son. Her name is Stephanie. She stayed for 2nd hr and we sat by her...and afterwards she poured out her whole life story, I got emotional because she was talking about her trails and just by praying to God she knows she'll be okay, her faith is amazing and we are excited to teacher her too. It was a miracle though because it was her first time coming and she met us, it was like she was sent to us to help her...
I am already seeing miracles here!!!
This ward is in great need of service and love and i am so happy to be
serving them and building this ward up.

A Message From Pres. Harding

Dear Sister York,

We were so delighted to meet your daughter as she arrived in our mission on Tuesday and to be able to spend time orienting her to this new phase of her service. On Wednesday morning we had our transfer meeting which included instruction to the missionaries, inspirational talks, testimonies, training, and assignments to their first companion and area of service.  Following the meeting her and her companion, Sister Diehl, traveled to Griffin, to her first assignment in the Griffin area.

I know she will prosper here in the days ahead and assure you that we will do everything in our power to help her find joy in her service and success in her labors.  Your weekly emails will do much to support her as she labors in this wonderful work.  Thank you so much for your support.

I hope you enjoy the attached photo of your wonderful missionary.

Look out Georgia!  Hurrah for Israel!!

Warmest wishes,
                                                                                                                                                                               John R. Harding

Hey Hey Hey!

Hey HEY HEY!!!
Sorry my thoughts are all over the place!
So I don't have a ton of time and I don't even know where to start!

Elder Quentin L Cook and his wife came and talked yesterday and it was amazing he spoke on exactly what i needed to hear (to set all of our thoughts of being
confident and feeling incapable to be set aside).
My Comp. Sister Manzer and I have been feeling less confident about our work so we got blessings from our District Leader Elder Havili and his comp. Elder Lee and our one of our teachers Elder Carter was with us too and it was cool we were the first ones they had ever given blessings to and they were so nervous but they did great!!!!

It feels like I have been here for forever, and its weird that I only got here a week ago!! My teachers are all so cool and so helpful!
I have a teacher who is from Gilbert, Brother Whiting!
No one in my district is 18 I think all the elders are 19 turning 20 or are already 20 turning 21... and my teachers are so young (20-26 years old) they are so helpful and so solid!
I want to be like them.
I met someone from ATL in the North area, and I met someone who is is called to Gilbert, AZ she was from like Washington or Oregon or something.

The food here is decent; Ive seen a few people I know from back home that are serving.
On Sunday we did a temple walk before the departure district (or the veteran missionaries) who left on Monday and we took some pictures! but i forgot my camera and i dont think they even work here, sooo when i get to Atlanta I'll have to send those to you!!!

The MTC is crazy you get like spiritually drained, no that sounds bad ha ha basically though you talk a lot about the gospel and the spirit and its interesting but I am used to talking about the gospel all of the time now and I love it! The Spirit is so strong here! And I love being on holy ground! I get to go do a session with my zone today also and I am super excited about that!!

Sorry that this is so short! but that's all I think of to say right now!
LOVE YOU ALL and thank you SOOOOO much for your prayers, love and support!!!!

She sent an Email!

Hey Momma! I only have time to quickly say a few things. But i LOVE IT here soooo MUCH!!!! And I am surviving the MTC! It feels like I have been here for months, my days are early and really long but I love it!! My Companion is Sister Mazer. She is awesome and we get along really well. She makes it easy to work with! I don't wanna spill the beans too much cuz I have so much to say but then I'll have nothing to say on P day! I Love my district so much...there are four Elders, and four Sisters. Elder Lee is from California, he is supposed to be in the England MTC but his visa didn't come; Elder Havili is our new district leader hes from Washington; Elder Wansworthy is from Idaho hes our new ZL along with his comp. Elder Faucks they are so awesome and I have grown so close to them! The threes Elders are going to Jamaca Kingston and one sister (Sister Lewis who is also my roomate) and her comp. is from Hawaii (Sister Smith). I am the Sister Training Leader for my Zone! (Basically I'm the Relief Society President) so i have extra meetings to go with the Zone leaders and I have to go to one right now so bye, I love you! I love walking and sleeping and eating on this holy ground so much there is nowhere else I'd rather be!! I love you and I feel your prayers and I'm so grateful for your support.
Love,
Sister Berryman

I am so grateful for this quick message!  It's great to know she is happy! :)

The people of Georgia are gonna LOVE Sister Berryman!

"I'm on my own now."

"I'm on my own now.", said Sister Berryman as we hugged, cried and said our last goodbyes.  "No your not", I said.  "You have tons of helpers behind you.  You just can't see them."
She gave me a quick call when she landed (thanks, Jensea Moore for picking her up and driving her to the MTC) and said, "I made it!"  There were 4 missionaries, 2 Elders and 2 Sisters on her flight from Phoenix, AZ to SLC, Utah.
Last night, when she was set apart she was told, "Fear will be a stranger to you." I am holding on to that phrase and probably will for the next 18 months!
